Mya Carroll is a real estate and community development professional, civic leader, and Founder and Principal of R M Carroll Realty & Development Group, LLC, a Houston-based real estate development and community advisory firm. With more than 20 years of leadership experience spanning real estate, organizational strategy, community development, and public-sector engagement, Mya works at the intersection of development, planning, leadership, and community impact.

Mya currently serves as Chair of the South Post Oak Redevelopment Authority (TIRZ 9), where she provides leadership and governance oversight for redevelopment initiatives designed to strengthen communities and support long-term economic growth. Her work includes affordable housing, infrastructure, public improvements, economic development, community revitalization, and strategic partnerships. Through this role, she has gained extensive experience navigating public-sector processes, development priorities, stakeholder engagement, and long-range redevelopment planning.

Mya earned a Master of Science in Community Development Planning from Prairie View A&M University, graduating in 2026. Her graduate studies strengthened her expertise in community development, land use, planning policy, economic development, neighborhood revitalization, and the relationship between public investment and community outcomes.

She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Houston–Clear Lake, with a minor in Women’s Studies. Together, her academic and professional experiences shape a people-centered approach to development, one that recognizes that successful projects must consider not only land, buildings, and investment, but also the people and communities those investments are intended to serve.

Before expanding her work in real estate and community development, Mya built an extensive career in corporate leadership, holding management and executive-level leadership responsibilities within major national organizations. Her experience included operations, organizational development, performance improvement, leadership development, team building, and executive training. That background continues to influence her approach to organizational strategy, project implementation, accountability, and leadership.

Mya's commitment to community extends well beyond her professional work. She is the Founder of Phoenix Women’s Outreach, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to support individuals and families through community-based programs, resources, education, and outreach. She has also held leadership roles within community coalitions and serves in civic and community capacities throughout Houston.

Her service has included years of grassroots community advocacy, collaboration with neighborhood organizations, public agencies, nonprofit institutions, elected officials, developers, and other stakeholders working to strengthen Houston communities. Mya believes meaningful development begins with understanding the people, assets, challenges, and opportunities that already exist within a community.

Her leadership and community impact have been recognized throughout her career. In 2015, former Houston Mayor Annise D. Parker issued a proclamation recognizing April 17 as “Mya Carroll Day.” In 2019, Mya was recognized by the Houston Business Journal as one of Houston’s “Women Who Mean Business.”

For Mya, these recognitions represent something larger than individual achievement. They reflect a career grounded in service, leadership, accountability, collaboration, and community impact.

Today, through R M Carroll Realty & Development Group, LLC, Mya continues to advance real estate and development opportunities while providing strategic guidance related to community development, redevelopment, stakeholder engagement, organizational strategy, and public-private initiatives.
